The operation area of the activities is centered in Longleng District,
Nagaland, where the population faces numerous challenges. The majority
of residents rely on farming for their livelihood, but the absence of
production units, factories, and other economic opportunities severely limits
their ability to improve their economic conditions. Poor road connectivity
and inadequate medical facilities further exacerbate the situation, leaving
many without access to essential services, particularly healthcare.
These difficulties extend beyond economic hardships. Many children in
Longleng are unable to afford school, leading to a rising dropout rate.
Often, these young students are compelled to support their families,
sacrificing their education and any hope for a brighter future. This lack of
educational opportunities perpetuates the cycle of poverty, leaving the
youth with limited prospects.
Unemployment, especially among the youth, is a significant issue, leading
to widespread depression and anxiety. The psychological toll is immense,
driving many to seek escape in drugs and alcohol, which only deepens the
distress within families and communities. This creates a ripple effect of
social problems that further entrench the district’s struggles.
In response to these pressing issues, Lakpanhu Welfare Society’s activities
are meticulously designed to provide the much-needed support, education,
and opportunities to help the people of Longleng District break free from
this cycle of hardship. Our focus on skill development, health education,
and economic empowerment aims to uplift the underprivileged population
by providing self-employment opportunities and enhancing access to
essential services.
Our initiatives strive to close the developmental gaps that have long
neglected this region. By equipping residents with the tools and resources
needed to build healthier and more prosperous lives, we work towards
sustainable progress and well-being for the entire community of Longleng
District.
